Review 1 "The MS Reader made this, my first ebook, an enjoyable experience. The focus of the book was Sam's experiences as he carried out his work as a collector salesman and Glasgow was the backdrop for this study". His style of writing is one that made it feel as if he was personally telling me his story and he was successful in this and in explaining what the job of collector salesman entailed and of the kind of customers he dealt with. The description of Glasgow was a bit softer; less detailed because Sam is writing for an audience of his own generation who know what Glasgow was like in those days. I am one of his customers children (and the editor of a Dennistoun community website) and I would have liked to have been told more on what was "An intermediate housing scheme?" (I've never heard this phrase before!). Where exactly is this scheme? Where exactly was Sam's school? What was the name of the school? What street was he born? And who was Jimmy Shand? And what street/area did Jimmy Shand live in? I've also never heard of Plantation! Is this the Gorbals? This, of course, is not the aim of the book. The aim of the book is to: "stir up memories of people who brought up families in those days and depended on credit to enable them to survive".
I
would be interested in knowing what the title/subject matter of your dads next
book would be and when it is likely to be published?
